1. How is the TigerLogic Dashboard licensed? Are dashboard users tied to the D3 user count?
TigerLogic (TL) Dashboard users are licensed independently from D3 with a separate unique System ID. The TL Dashboard is licensed per server per D3 database, meaning that a license is required for every instance of D3.
The TL Dashboard uses a non-persistent connection during which a D3 user login is established, a request is sent to D3, D3 fulfills the request and the user is logged off. A D3 license is consumed for each concurrent request from a TL Dashboard user into the D3 database; however the user consumption of D3 licenses is intermittent and is used long enough for the connector to login, retrieve information and log out.
2. What are the differences between the Standard, Professional and Enterprise Editions?
- Standard Edition: Widget types include the HTML, table and text, 2D/3D charts (line, area, bar, column, pie and doughnut style), RSS Feeds and the Web-based Pick/BASIC code editor.
- Professional Edition: Widget types include the features of the Standard Edition as well as gauges, bullet graphs, funnel, pyramid and spark charts.
- Enterprise Edition: Widget types include the features of the Professional Edition as well as interactive and data-driven maps which can depict data ranges within various geographies (for example, sales by state or by county within a given state).
3. What is the TL Dashboard SDK used for?
The SDK is an inexpensive way for a developer to create a package of widgets and dashboards to be delivered to clients who have their own TL Dashboard deployment license. The SDK includes the Enterprise Edition allowing development using all available dashboard widgets for deployment in any of the deployment editions (Standard, Professional or Enterprise). When deploying dashboards the developer needs to bear in mind the target system’s TL Dashboard edition (Standard, Professional or Enterprise) and the supported widgets for that edition.
4. Does the TL Dashboard work without the SDK?
Yes. Development can be done with any TL Dashboard deployment edition (Standard, Professional or Enterprise). The SDK and Enterprise Edition functionality is identical, which allows a developer to develop dashboards using all supported widgets. If used for development, the Standard and Professional editions are limited to developing dashboards with only the supported widgets for that specific edition.
5. Would an end-user need/want to purchase the SDK?
Typically, an end user would not purchase the SDK unless they handle much of their own development in-house on a separate development server.
6. Are reseller discounts available?
Yes. Reseller discounts are available for deployment licenses. Reseller discounts do not apply to the SDK license of the TL Dashboard. Contact your TigerLogic sales representative for discount information.
7. Does the TL Dashboard have to run on the same server as D3?
Yes. The TL Dashboard can only run on the server on which D3 is installed.
8. What if I need more users?
Additional users for the TL Dashboard deployment editions are available to purchase in five (5) user increments or with unlimited users. Additional single users can be purchased for the TL Dashboard SDK license.
9. Do I need to re-activate the TL Dashboard in order to add users?
Yes, re-activation is required.
10. If I wish to upgrade to another TL Dashboard edition (for example, from Standard to Professional), do I maintain the same System ID or is a new one issued?
A new System ID is issued with any edition change or upgrade, or when increasing users from a specified number of users to unlimited users.
11. Does the TL Dashboard work with mvBase?
The TL Dashboard currently is not available for mvBase. There are plans for an mvBase version however we do not have a scheduled release date at this time.
12. Does the TL Dashboard use FlashCONNECT for connectivity?
No. The TL Dashboard uses its own software specifically designed to act as a combination Web server and D3 connector.
13. What happens when the evaluation period is over and I wish to purchase?
Send a purchase order to orders@tigerlogic.com and a new System ID will be provided.
