The following sections will help you quickly start exploring the many uses and benefits of TigerLogic ChunkIt!
Searching with ChunkIt!
Searching the internet with ChunkIt! is easy. As with any conventional search engine tool, simply type one or more keywords into the ChunkIt!
search box and click the 
Chunk button (to the immediate right of the ChunkIt! search box).
Note - TigerLogic ChunkIt! provides you the ability to search the web using your favorite of today's best search engines (Google, Yahoo, Live Search, AOL or Ask).
Click the arrow on the right side of the Chunk
button to select your favorite search engine. Notice how the Chunk button is
renamed to reflect your search engine of choice.
This opens a new panel on the left side of your browser that instantly lists and separates all results relevant to your keywords into tidy little chunks of information. Within these chunks, all of your keywords will be highlighted, with a different color used for each individual keyword.
TIP - Use the resize icons 
to expand or contract the width of the chunking panel to a desired size.
Shopping with ChunkIt!
TigerLogic ChunkIt! provides you the ability to shop the web using your favorite shopping sites. Simply type one or more keywords into the ChunkIt! search box and click the 
Chunk button (if this button is not displayed in the ChunkIt! toolbar, select Show Shopping Button from the Search Options drop-down menu).
TIP - Click the arrow on the right side of the Chunk
button to select your favorite shopping site (Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target, Best Buy or Circuit City). When selecting a site, note how you can even select to shop that store’s various departments (for example, Apparel, Home, Electronics, and so on). After making your selection, notice how the Chunk button is renamed to reflect your shopping site of choice.
This opens a new panel on the left side of your browser that instantly lists and separates all resulting products relevant to your keywords into tidy little chunks of information, including the product name, picture, description and price. Within the description, all of your keywords will be highlighted, with a different color used for each individual keyword.
TIP - Use the resize icons to expand or contract the width of the chunking panel to a desired size.
Selecting Your Search Options
By default, ChunkIt! returns the chunks that are the Best Match for your keywords. However, several convenient and easy-to-use options are available for refining your search terms. Simply select any of the following options from the Search Options drop-down menu:
| Best Match | Returns chunked results containing an optimal number of the keywords in your search. |
| Match All | Returns chunked results containing all of the keywords in your search. |
| "Exact" Match | Returns chunked results containing the exact phrase used in your search (the same words in the same order). |
| Match Any | Returns chunked results containing at least one or more of the keywords in your search. |
| Lock Search Options | Select this option to temporarily "lock" your search options setting for subsequent searches. (Note: The setting will reset back to the "Best Match" option when you open a new browser session.) |
| Use Stemming | Searches for results containing words that are similar to your keywords. For example, if you search for a phrase containing the word disclose,
ChunkIt! will also search for variations of the word, such as disclosed, discloses and disclosure. TIP - To turn stemming off, simply uncheck the Use Stemming option. |
| Show Shopping Button | Displays the Shopping button in the ChunkIt! toolbar. |
| Chunk "Google" on "ENTER" Key | Allows you to initiate a chunk search by pressing the Enter key, rather than clicking the Chunk Google button. |
| Allow Breakouts | For Firefox only: When chunking in Firefox using the Chunk This Page button, certain web sites do not automatically allow ChunkIt! to force a split screen and chunk the page. In such cases, a prompt displays asking whether you want to navigate away from this page (that is, reject chunking the web site). Selecting the Allow Breakouts option suppresses these prompts, automatically rejecting chunking such web sites. |
Chunking Web Pages
In addition to being able to chunk the initial search engine results, you can also chunk individual web pages. As an added benefit, you can choose to chunk both a web page and its embedded links. No longer will you need to manually open and examine individual links. The available options for chunking web pages are listed below.
NOTE - You can change or modify your search keywords at any time to find additional chunks of interest within the web page or links.

Clicking these buttons chunks the information in the current web page or the page currently open in the right panel of the browser. Note that the Chunk Right-Page button replaces the Chunk This Page button when you enter split-screen mode after performing your initial ChunkIt! search.
TIP - Use this feature to find information buried within large documents such as online reference manuals, text books, specifications and contracts. |

TIP - Use this feature to avoid the time-consuming process of manually opening and examining the multitudes of individual links often contained within a web page. |
Viewing Web Pages with ChunkIt!
To enhance your overall search experience, we have provided some great features that will allow you to quickly locate and view your chunk results in context from their source web site.
- Click the underlined web page title (for example, WMAP Big Bang Cosmology) at the top of the chunked results to open the web page in the right panel.
- Click the URL address (located directly below the underlined web page title) to open the web page in a new browser window. Note that the link directly above the preview panel also opens the page in a new browser.
- Click any chunk to open the web page containing that chunk in the right panel and highlight the selected chunk.
- Click the Re-Chunk this List of Results link to chunk additional keywords in the results currently displayed in the left panel.
TIP - Depending on your monitor's resolution, the chunks that display in the left panel may be hidden when you
open a web page by clicking a chunk. To re-display your chunked results, click the 
icon
located in the orange bar at the top of the left panel.
Sharing Your ChunkIt! Results
Leverage the power of your valuable chunks by sharing them with family, friends and colleagues. Click the convenient Email Chunks link located near the top of each set of chunked results to open a new Outlook message. Your chunked results (including the information and links) will be automatically saved in a file and attached to the email message. Just enter an email address and click Send to share your search discoveries. With ChunkIt!, you'll never again have to copy and paste cryptic and cumbersome URL addresses into your messages.
Uninstalling ChunkIt!
For Windows 2003, XP Users:- From the Windows Start Menu, open the Control Panel.
- Click Add or Remove Programs.
- Select TigerLogic ChunkIt! from the list of currently installed programs, then click Remove.
For Windows Vista Users:
- From the Windows Start Menu, open the Control Panel.
- Click Uninstall Programs from the Programs section.
- Select TigerLogic ChunkIt! from the list of currently installed programs, then click uninstall.
For All Firefox Installations:
- Open Firefox.
- Select Add-ons from the Tools menu.
- Select TigerLogic ChunkIt!-Firefox from the list of Add-ons, then click Uninstall.
- Restart Firefox.
