Frequently Asked Internet Explorer Questions


TigerLogic ChunkIt! was working but now it’s not visible in Internet Explorer and it’s not present in View > Toolbars. Where did it go? Another application may have disabled third-party plug-ins in your browser. If other plug-ins were also installed, but are no longer visible, this is likely the case. To re-enable third party plug-ins:
  1. Select Internet Options from the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Select the Enable third-party browser extensions option and then click OK.
  4. Restart your browser.
TigerLogic ChunkIt! should now be available.

I reset all of my Internet Explorer settings and TigerLogic ChunkIt! is no longer available. How do I re-enable TigerLogic ChunkIt!? Complete the following instructions:
  1. Select Manage Add-ons from the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Select the Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer option from the Show list box.
  3. Select TigerLogic ChunkIt! from the list of disabled add-ons.
  4. Select Enable from the Settings options.
  5. Click OK in response to the message that displays confirming whether you want to enable the add-on.
  6. Click OK again.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer.
  8. Select Toolbars >TigerLogic ChunkIt! from the Internet Explorer View menu.

When I start Internet Explorer, why do I receive this message?

“ChunkIt! was unable to start the JVM (Java Virtual Machine). To resolve, restart Internet Explorer. If problem persists please let us know.”
Some existing Internet Explorer plug-ins are bundled with versions of the Java Virtual Machine that are incompatible with TigerLogic ChunkIt!. This problem is currently being resolved and your feedback regarding the existing plug-ins installed on your system will aid greatly in overcoming this problem. In the interim, the problem can be resolved by disabling other 3rd party plug-ins that may be installed on the machine. To disable 3rd party plug-ins:
  1. Select Manage Add-ons from the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Select the Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer option from the Show list box.
  3. Select the currently loaded add-on that employs the Java Virtual Machine from the list of enabled add-ons.
  4. Select Disable from the Settings options.
  5. Click OK in response to the message that displays confirming whether you want to disable the add-on.
  6. Click OK again.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer.

When I chunk a particular site I can see the original page on the right-hand side, but ChunkIt! processing doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Why is this occurring? Internet Explorer security settings can affect the ability of TigerLogic ChunkIt! to chunk certain sites. An issue exists in some versions of Internet Explorer where any sites listed in your Trusted Sites will not be accessible by TigerLogic ChunkIt! if the “Allow active content to run in files on My Computer” is also set. To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

Remove the web site from the list of Trusted Sites. To accomplish this:
  1. Select Internet Options from the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Select Trusted Sites from the Web content zone options and click the Sites button.
  4. Select the blocked web site from the list of Trusted Sites.
  5. Click OK.
Disable the security flag. To accomplish this:
  1. Select Internet Options from the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. De-select the “Allow active content to run in files on My Computer” option from the Security section. Note that disabling this setting will increase the overall security of your machine.
  4. Click OK.
